Marketing and Public Relations Intern

Description: The Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and proactive Marketing and Public Relations Intern to join our team. This position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, who are eager to apply their skills in a real-world environment and make substantial contributions to our community-focused initiatives.

Key Duties:

  • Event Coverage: Assist in event coverage at various chamber events such as monthly mixers and ribbon cuttings.
  • Content Creation: Help highlight our member businesses through innovative multimedia content. This includes developing material for social media platforms and our website, showcasing the diverse activities and achievements of our members.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with office duties such as filing, organizing documents, and managing supplies. The role may also include picking up items from vendors or other locations as needed for events and daily operations.

Requirements:

  • This internship is intended for college or university students.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to our office in McAllen.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as some tasks may involve handling materials and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Commitment: The intern is expected to commit approximately 15 hours per week. Scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate event coverage, which may include evenings and weekends.

Benefits: This internship offers a stipend of $200 per month and may provide credit hours, subject to approval by the intern’s educational institution. It is an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable hands-on experience, build a substantial professional portfolio, and develop a network within the business and nonprofit sectors.
