Lance Ames, CEO of South Texas Health Systems will be the guest at the monthly "Coffee with the CEO" webinars that the RGV Hispanic Chamber hosts every month. President/CEO Cynthia M. Sakulenzki will get an opportunity to talk to Mr. Ames about the Medical Industry, how COVID has affected them, business with our neighbors to the south, etc.
"For nearly four years, Lance Ames has served as the Chief Executive Officer of South Texas Health System Edinburg and South Texas Health System Children’s, overseeing hospital operations for 235 acute inpatient beds and 750 dedicated staff members at the two facilities. During his tenure as CEO, Lance has expanded multiple service lines, driven a focus on quality, compassionate patient care, and is currently finalizing a five-story, $105 million, new patient tower project that will open an expanded ER,
state-of-the-art ICU, and advanced imaging center in July of this year with additional adult medical/surgical/telemetry and inpatient rehabilitation spaces opening in September. Lance began his career with South Texas Health System nine years ago as part of Universal Health Services’ executive leadership development program. He has taken on multiple roles within the health system, including Associate Administrator at South Texas Health System McAllen, Interim CEO at South Texas Health System Heart, System Administrator for Ambulatory Services and Freestanding ERs, and
Chief Operating Officer at South Texas Health System Edinburg and Children’s prior to becoming CEO. Lance completed his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in business management at Brigham Young University and went on to complete a master’s degree in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has a passion for mentoring future healthcare leaders, and he dedicates his time to serving the community. This past year, Lance served as the Chairman of the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, where he has been an active member for the past six years. He has also dedicated time to serve as a youth basketball coach and youth group leader at his church. Lance, his wife Jen, and their four kids love exploring the beautiful Rio Grande Valley and are honored to be a part of this growing community."
